If you have implemented this strategy so many times, however, you may want to edit your "plan" to not include (to paraphrase) "Doug has never heard this before" or "no one has ever done this before". Yes, it is rare for someone to go the extra mile and interview perspective employers, but it is not unheard of. I also like to think of my interview as my opportunity to "interview" the company.
